The idea for "A Touch of Gray" comes from a Gray fox that frequents our backyard.  He sometimes is poking around for table scrapes we through out or he's just cruising the neighborhood.  The actual reference for this painting comes from my friend Jan Van Hoesen's fox, "Tuffy."  Jan does many educational programs regarding Michigan predators.  She is also a world class taxidermist.
