"There are many species of sunbirds in Africa and Asia.  They have some of the same similarities to American hummingbirds.  Both species are nectar feeders that pollinate flowers.  They are generally colorful with metallic and iridescent accents.  Bronze Sunbirds are an elegant metallic green with hints of blue and bronze in full sunlight.  Without the sun this iridescence does not show through and the bird appears simply black.  This threesome are feeding high in the trees on flowers of a saprophytic vine.  Many of my sunbird reference has been gathered from fellow artist Peter Blackwell and his wife Lisa Ashe's beautiful garden in Kenya." - Kim Diment
