| "I watched this purple banded sunbird flitting from one aloe plant to the next one warm afternoon. His female companion, like most female sunbirds didn't draw near the attention due to her rather drab brown plumage. the purple banded sunbird, like the bronze species, is very colorful in direct sun but nearly black in the shadows of the day. There are many species of sunbirds in Africa and Asia. They have some of the same similarities to American hummingbirds. Both species are nectar feeders that pollinate flowers. They are generally colorful with metallic and iridescent accents." - Kim Diment | ||||
