When I am painting during the day I often glance up to see what is going on outside of my window. We are fortunate to have the AuSable River flowing by our house. It often provides us with great animal entertainment. Although we do not have any wolves in our immediate area I entertain the fantasy of looking out one day to see a “visitor” checking out the possibilities of the river’s frozen edge. Wolf populations have been slightly increasing in Michigan, especially in the Upper Peninsula. A few sightings are even occurring in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Isle Royal of Lake Superior sustains a population of wolves that are dependent on its cyclic moose population. - Kim Diment |
