The Lilac Breasted Roller contains over half of hues in the color wheel with its dynamic plumage. Every nuance of blue is in its feathers somewhere. I have often thought of Lilac Breasted Rollers when looking at the Caribbean as their colors remind me of the seas. Rollers are thick set birds that like to eat large insects and small lizards. Sometime they will take a dead beetle toss it in the air, and catch it in their beak. This particular Roller is preening. In full breeding regalia, the rollers will sport two long filaments from each side of their tail. - Kim Diment |
